Berkshire bin collection and recycling changes announced
Massive changes for Berkshire residents as council announces rubbish collection to be spread thinly across the district in hopes for bin collection will be “more efficient and reliable”.
It’s no surprise that these dramatic changes have left residents in smaller areas within Berkshire unhappy with the changes as collection time increases.
We understand that you don’t want to wait weeks for someone to pick up your rubbish; that’s why we aim for efficient collection times here at Any Waste. Our team are on hand to collect garbage all week for residents all over Berkshire.
Avoid the wait and get in touch with us!
Will the changes affect me?
It is said that people within West Berkshire are most likely to be affected by these changes; the council have predicted significant delays in rubbish collection for the next few months.
Areas in West Berkshire with the most extended delays:
West Berkshire council will offer residents who suffer due to the significant delays with an extra one-off rubbish, recycling and garden waste collection when feasible. Later this month, households will be able to check whether they are eligible via a letter sent by the council – be sure to check your letterbox!
A member of the Berkshire council had this to say – “We hope the residents of West Berkshire will understand the need to undertake this change and will support our hard-working crews as we put the new arrangements in place.”
What the council are advising residents
Ultimately, the council has responded to angry residents and has promoted the act of reducing waste at home. They have encouraged Berkshire residents within Windsor, Newbury, Bray and Reading to try and reduce food waste generation over the holiday period and beyond; they have suggested you try and compost where possible.
Understandably we realise that trying to compost any waste can be extremely time-wasting and, frankly, will not solve any of your problems.
What can I do with my waste during the delay?
Waiting for anything can be such a nuisance, let alone your rubbish collection; most homeowners just want their waste out of sight. Shockingly we have discovered the impact of this decision made by the council and have seen residents dump their waste out of frustration. However, this is never the option to choose no matter the circumstances; we believe there are always alternatives to this.
Read why it is dangerous to dump waste.
